Mathew B. Brady was a pioneer of photography. He documented the American Civil War and created iconic portraits of generals, politicians, and anonymous individuals. In the Heads series, Moulin reimagines the subjects of Brady’s daguerreotypes by drawing over the portraits, inviting the viewer to reconsider the narratives tied to these individuals and their era. The recontextualized portraits explore the tension between identity, history, and memory.
